Selected work / Spring 2027
Communication that helps people connect.
I’m a pianist and scientist with experience organizing relationship records, preparing audience-specific materials, and supporting events. These samples show that work in practice.
Relationship records
Keeping people, organizations, and follow-up information connected.
Relationship records. An anonymized view of a custom Obsidian database built from linked Markdown notes for people, organizations, events, and follow-up information.
Database structure
Linked records that remain usable.
I built a custom Obsidian database using linked Markdown notes to organize contacts, organizations, events, and next steps. I also cleaned and merged contact lists from multiple sources.
The graph shown is anonymized; no real contact information is displayed.
Data management
Turning scattered records into usable information.
Used to clean and merge contact lists from multiple sources, check fields for consistency, and create a repeatable workflow for reviewable records.
This is the same kind of careful information handling that supports donor research, CRM updates, data entry, and administrative follow-through.
Relevant to: prospect background research, accurate record updates, and preparing information for staff review.
Events & community giving
Guest communication, logistics, and a cause.
Annual gathering. Guests at the 2025 gathering.
Annual gathering & clothing drive
Bringing guests together for a cause.
I plan and host an annual gathering of 100+ guests, handling invitations, guest communications, and logistics. Since 2024, it has included a clothing drive that has collected 3,000+ items for KC CARE Health Center. I also built a simple survey tool that helps guests find shared interests and start conversations.
My contribution: invitations, guest communications, event logistics, survey design, and tool development.
Audience-specific materials
Making complex information easier to review.
One-page materials brief. A visual explanation prepared for readers working across biomaterials and biomanufacturing.
I prepared a one-page visual brief for readers working across biomaterials and biomanufacturing, selecting and organizing the material into concise explanations and diagrams.
The brief gives readers a quick way to see how related material families, shared technical challenges, and practical applications connect across the field. It is structured as a handout: a clear title, a short framing statement, grouped information, and diagrams that carry part of the explanation.
Relevant to: donor information packets and member handouts.
Public-facing communication
Explaining bioengineering to a high-school audience.
Engineering Camps. A lecture delivered to a high-school audience through KU Engineering Summer Camps.
I prepared and delivered lectures to approximately 300 students through KU Engineering Summer Camps, adapting technical concepts through accessible language and examples.
Relevant to: speaking with guests and donors at member events.
